Everything you need to plan your day with TABONO: projects and tasks, calendar, bookmarks, notes and sync.

10 sections Updated September 2026 Help: tabono@alphamindx.com

1. Get started

  1. Install TABONO from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Open a new tab. The first time, a short notice explains how TABONO keeps your information private.
  3. Click Sign in with Google. If you first sign in from the toolbar button, TABONO opens a new tab to finish signing in.

After your first sign-in, TABONO checks your Google Drive. If you have used TABONO before, your workspace is restored from your backup. If not, TABONO adds a small set of example projects, tasks and notes to help you explore; you can delete them at any time.

TABONO has no servers. Your workspace is saved in your browser and backed up to a private, hidden folder in your own Google Drive. Your most visited sites and open tabs are read on your device only.

The same workspace opens from a new tab, from Chrome's side panel, and from the TABONO button in the Chrome toolbar.

Use the icon dock on the left to open Tasks, Calendar, Bookmarks or Notes. The lower controls open Settings, switch between light and dark theme, show the Google Drive sync status, and show your profile photo. The TABONO logo opens Home. The TABONO version is always shown at the bottom of the sidebar.

Home

  • Frequently Visited shows the sites you visit most, based on Chrome's top sites and recent history.
  • My Favorites are shortcuts you add yourself. Drag them to reorder, or drag a tab from the Open Tabs panel to add it.
  • Use View to show shortcuts as Icons, Cards, Compact tiles or a List. TABONO remembers your choice.
  • The Open Tabs panel lists your open tabs by window. Click one to switch to it.
  • Right-click a shortcut to open it in a new tab, copy its address, or remove it.

You can make Home your starting page in Settings > General.

Your account

Click your profile photo in the dock to see your Google account, the sync status (Synced with Google, Syncing…, Unsynced changes, Sync error or Not synced yet), a summary of your projects, open tasks, notes and bookmarks, when you last synced and signed in, and the TABONO version. You can sign out from here. Press Esc or click outside to close it.

3. Projects and tasks

Projects

Every task belongs to a project, such as Home, Kids & School or Work. If you have no projects yet, the Tasks page helps you create your first one, with name ideas to start from, or lets you explore the example data.

In the Tasks sidebar, projects are grouped as Ongoing, Not Started, Completed and Paused. You can show them as a tree or a flat list, search by name, sort them, and drag a project to another group. A project's menu lets you add a sub-project, rename it, or delete it. Deleting a project also removes its tasks and sub-projects, so TABONO asks first.

Tasks

Each project has a List and a Board. The board has four columns: Not started, In progress, On hold and Completed; drag a task to move it. In the list you can filter, sort, and select several tasks to change their status or priority, move them to another project, set a date, duplicate or delete them.

Open a task to change its title, project, status, priority, description, date, time and duration. You can also add comments and attach a notebook page or a file (files are uploaded to your Google Drive).

End-of-day review

Use EOD in the task header to review unfinished tasks from earlier days and move them to tomorrow, next week or another date. TABONO can also move overdue scheduled tasks back to In Progress automatically; set this up in Settings > Tasks & Automation.

4. Calendar

The calendar has Day, Week and Month views. Use Today, the arrows or the mini calendar to move around, and search to find an event.

The calendar list shows your own Google calendars and the Tabono Tasks calendar, where your scheduled tasks appear. Tick a calendar to show it, and click its colour swatch to change its colour.

Click a time slot or Create Task to add a task. Choose its project, status, priority, time and, if you like, a repeat pattern (daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly, yearly or custom). If you have no projects yet, TABONO asks you to create one first.

You can drag TABONO tasks to another time and resize them. Events from your other Google calendars are shown read-only. In Settings > Calendar you can choose whether weeks start on Monday or Sunday and whether to show your working hours or the full day.

5. Bookmarks

Bookmarks are organised in two levels:

  • Spaces are big areas, like Home or Work & Research. Switch spaces in the sidebar.
  • Collections are groups of related links inside a space, like Recipes, School or Daily tools.

Add links to a collection one by one, drag a tab from the Open Tabs panel, or save all your open tabs as a new collection with Save open tabs. Search the current space or all spaces by title or address.

Use View to choose Card, Compact, List or Grid, and sort collections by your own order, name, starred first, or date. Star, copy, open or delete a bookmark from its hover buttons. Settings > Bookmarks & Notes controls whether a bookmark opens in the current tab, a new tab, or a background tab.

6. Notes

Notes live in notebooks, and each notebook holds pages. If you have no notebooks yet, the Notes page helps you create your first one. Use the plus buttons in the sidebar to add notebooks and pages, and double-click a name to rename it.

Each page is one of two kinds:

  • ShortNote: a board of sticky-note cards, each with its own title, text and colour. Great for quick lists and reminders.
  • LongNote: a full document with headings, lists, checkboxes, quotes, links, images and more. You can also choose a plain-text editor.

Notes are saved automatically as you type. Search finds text on the page you have open. To keep details with a task, attach a note page from the task's options.

Click the TABONO button in the Chrome toolbar for quick access without opening a new tab:

  • Jump straight to Tasks, Calendar, Bookmarks or Notes.
  • Search and open your projects, notebooks and bookmark spaces.
  • Save open tabs to keep every open tab as a bookmark collection.
  • Open TABONO to go to your full workspace.

8. Settings

Open Settings from the dock. You can search settings, and they are grouped as:

  • General: light or dark theme, and the page TABONO starts on.
  • Account & Sync: your Google connection, sync status, sync now, and sign out.
  • Calendar: week start, working hours, and the hours shown.
  • Tasks & Automation: when completed tasks are archived and when overdue tasks are moved back.
  • Bookmarks & Notes: how bookmarks open and the default editor for new notes.
  • Data & Maintenance: export or restore a backup file and tidy old deletion records.
  • About: the TABONO version, support contact, and links to this guide and the privacy policy.

Resetting your workspace

To delete everything, open Data & Maintenance, expand the Danger zone and choose Reset Workspace. To prevent accidents, TABONO shows exactly what will be deleted, asks you to type your Google account email, and waits 10 seconds before the delete button works.

A reset also removes your data from your Google Drive backup and your other computers, and it cannot be undone. Export a backup first if you might need your data again. Restoring a backup file replaces your current workspace.

9. Your data and sync

TABONO saves every change in your browser first, so it works even when you're offline. When you're signed in, it backs up your workspace to a private folder in your Google Drive and keeps your scheduled tasks in step with Google Calendar. Sync runs after you make changes, regularly while TABONO is open, and whenever you click the cloud button.

If you use TABONO on more than one computer, sign in with the same Google account on each: changes from every computer are merged through your Drive backup. You can check the sync status and the time of the last sync from the cloud button, your account dialog, or Settings > Account & Sync.
